Chris Shrewsbury has been attending conventions and cosplaying for over 30 years. Growing up in WV, he’s attended, volunteered, and been staff at literally dozens of cons along the east coast.
While studying Speech Pathology and Deaf Education at Liberty Univ., he became a nationally certified sign language interpreter and has worked with many notable entertainers, educators, and government officials. He also served a tour in the U.S. Navy as well as teaching both hearing and hearing-impaired students at the pre-school through university levels.
In recent years Chris has developed a neurological condition affecting strength and balance, causing him to spend increasing amounts of time wheelchair-bound. He is a vocal advocate and encourager of the disabled, especially within the fandom convention and cosplay communities. Still an active cosplayer, many of his costumes incorporate his disability.
In addition to cosplay, he is a busy convention panelist, instructor/lecturer dealing with sign language/deafness/disabilities, avid purveyor and contributor to social media, costume judge, and is volunteer staff at Fayetteville ComicCon and Accessibility Services Coordinator at Animazement.
