For the benefit of all of our members we have decided to be explicit about our anti-harassment policy. It reads as follows:
The board of illogiCon supports an environment of worry-free fun and entertainment. We do not support harassment or discrimination based on gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, disabilities, or anything else. If you have a problem with either discrimination or harassment, or you witness such, you are encouraged to come to a member of the board and report it. The proper members of the board will review the complaint and take appropriate action, be it mediation, nothing, banishment, or something in-between. If you need to find a board member, you can look for the “Committee” ribbons or ask anstaff member and one will be found for you. NO ONE, not even board members, is exempt from this rule.
To be clear harassment is not acceptable, has never been acceptable, and will not be tolerated. We’re all adults, and we want to have fun, because adults having fun is what makes illogiCon what it is. What is not acceptable is for people to turn that adult fun into an adult problem. The other thing we want to be abundantly clear on is that nobody gets a pass on the harassment policy. Our close personal friends do not get a pass. The panelists and guests do not get a pass. Our staff, up to and including the Con Chair do not get a pass. Everybody at illogiCon is, first and foremost, a member of illogiCon, a member of the community, and deserves to be treated as a human being.
