Hello IllogiCon family new and old! I’m so excited for you to join us in 2019 for our eighth year. As you may have noticed, we’ve been a little quiet around here, so I wanted to keep you all in the loop about some of the changes that have been happening.
For the past six years, we’ve had a happy home at the Embassy Suites in Cary, and many of us have grown fond of our familiar halls and koi pond. When we heard that the hotel was undergoing renovations, we were excited to be one of the first groups to experience the brand new splendor of our cozy space. However, we recently found out that the renovations would take a bit longer than expected and that we would need to find a new home for 2019. Since we’ve had such a great experience with Embassy Suites, we decided that for 2019, we will be relocating to the Embassy Suites and Hampton Inn at the Raleigh-Durham Airport/Brier Creek. It’s only a short distance from the other hotel we’re all so familiar with, with a lot of the old amenities that we’re fond of and the new added bonus of swankier rooms and meeting spaces. The Embassy Suites and Hampton Inn share a parking lot and a very short walk between them, which will give our attendees more room options and more programming space between the two hotels.
As with any shift like this, there will be some slight changes in the way we traditionally do things, but the quality that you’ve come to expect in our dealer room, gaming options, and programming is still going strong. Our convention committee and I are looking forward to showing our new hotel that our attendees are a fantastic group of nerds who know how to have a good time and bring out the best in our community as a whole. We’ll have a link up soon for you to book your hotel rooms under our group rate, and our preregistration is still open. Keep a lookout for more exciting news about our new home and the coming year, and I can’t wait to hang out with you in January.
